I see the great blue rivers Behind the flood gate flesh I see the path to follow To break and spill their banks Resist the easy way out Resist the currents pull Resist the freezing waters Resist the void's call Don't give up Don't fall down Please don't leave Please just breathe Don't submit Do not drown Please don't leave Please just breathe Don't your dare give up Don't you dare fall down Please don't leave Please just breathe

Meridian 04:50
Seeping eyes trapped in dark so long Step outside And sear them with the sun Shades of life Vibrant green and blue Rushing wind Scours misery from you Run for your life Reclaim yourself, regain your light Fight for your life It's time to end the long, cold night No longer held back By anyone but yourself The last few years were bad enough Don't let them be your last! Pale grey skin trapped in dark so long Step outside And sear it with the sun Sever all the chains That bind you to your past The last few years were bad enough Don't you dare let them be your last!
3.
You struggle on through countless steps You can't give, there is so much left Just take it slow and catch your breath Forge forward now don't let your journey end Push through the fog to clear blue skies Don't let this kill you, don't let yourself die Push yourself forward, clear each new rise Embrace your freedom and fight for your life Reclaim your 'soul' Rediscover all that made you whole From this damage, grow Seek and discover thing's you've never known Don't be like them, don't ever sink that low Don't be destroyed by the pain that they bestowed Forge a new life, of which you have control Discard your shattered dreams and let them go Let them go... Let go your past Don't let sorrow control Live life for yourself Not those who drain your soul Don't waste your time They stole enough from you Reclaim your life And never let it go
4.
Away from the grey that discoloured the world Burst into the light, free yourself from the cold Away from your sorrow and the shades of despair Recolour the world, recreate and repair No more effort wasted for nothing in return No more love to be wasted where it isn't deserved Dispose of the grey that has discoloured your heart And banish the cold that has it's grasp on your soul Time to repair and fade out bruised shades of pain And recolour your world so it is vibrant again ---- Too long has sorrow held control Too long have the darker shades had hold Too long has the pallette of life been grey So long since the colour was drained away All this darkness must be cast aside Too long have the shadows discoloured life Let the darkness fade to yesterday Don't let your future slip away Trapped in a prison cold and grey This will no longer be might fate This darkness will not conquer me I will not accept defeat I will never be like you Disloyal through and through Inflicting blackened wounds I'll never sink that low In your blood is to betray Those who love are those who pay You render all their effort waste I will never be that way Rise above, work hard, move on Let these wasted years be done Forge ahead, be strong, be brave Your own life is the one you must save Is forgiveness ignorance to an ugly truth? A bed of nails in my head, I can't rely on you! Rise above, work hard, move on Let these wasted years be done Forge ahead, be strong, be brave Your own life is the one you must save It's okay to fall apart It's okay to fail, after trying so hard It's okay to fall apart Every time something ends something new will start...

about

This EP was written during summer and recorded during autumn, 2018.

In contrast to the first Shades Of Loss EP, which was an expression of mourning, loss and fear; this EP was written purposefully to sound upbeat and have a positive message behind it - with the idea that focusing on something positive, rather than wallowing in the negativity that pervaded the first EP (and the as yet unreleased third Living Monstrosity album), would help me to feel more positive overall.

Life imitating art...hopefully.

The album title, as well as the final track, were heavily inspired by the film Ex Machina, where the character Ava escapes her confinement and ventures out to experience all that this world has to offer.

Metaphorically it is about overcoming patterns of negative emotions that can spiral out of control, dominate your life and hold you back; be it depression, anxiety, grief, anger, stress, etc. Getting out of whatever negative space you are in and striving for that which is positive.
